Helping couples and clinicians create safer, stronger emotional bonds
Hi, I’m Dave Jackson!
I am passionate about helping others find secure, meaningful connections with their partners. I began my training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in 2012 and continue to be an active student of EFT with several hundred supervision hours (and counting!).
I belong to an international group of EFT Certified Therapists and Supervisors who meet to strengthen their work through review and critique of recorded therapy sessions.
My current focus is expanding the presence and impact of EFT in the upper Midwest through retreats for distressed couples and seminars for therapists learning the EFT model. I’m honored to be a MNCEFT Board member since 2023.
I’m co-founder of Assessment and Therapy Associates of Grand Forks (ATAGF) where we are fortunate to have nearly 30 talented therapists working with us, including several trained in the EFT model. As a business owner, I have extensive experience with effective communication and finding reasonable resolution.
I also love cycling, basketball, and going on adventures with my wife (a sport psychologist) and our three herding mix rescue dogs: Fromm, Bella, and Wilson.

I offer services to couples seeking connection and therapists wanting to improve their use of the EFT model.

I work with couples in all relationship stages, from dating to long-term commitment, who want to develop a stronger relationship with their partner.
EFT couples therapy begins with a 1 to 2 session intake session that is focused on gathering a thorough attachment history for both partners. We will discuss your treatment plan and recommendations for you at the end of the intake process.
Because the ‘client’ is the couple, no medical diagnosis is rendered. Therefore, couples therapy is not eligible for insurance reimbursement, nor do we accept EAPs for couples therapy.
All couples therapy sessions are conducted through Assessment and Therapy Associates of Grand Forks.
Please contact ATAGF via phone at (701) 780-6821 or via the “Work with Me” button below if you are interested in scheduling couples therapy with me.

Another great way to work on your relationship is through one of our Hold Me Tight® relationship retreats! These are held in partnership with Assessment and Therapy Associates of Grand Forks & Haugen Performance Consulting.
Our retreats are typically held on weekends (Friday night until Sunday at noon) and cost less than 4 couples therapy sessions! They are a great way to kick-start connection with your partner.
We also have funding to hold FREE relationship treats where one person is a service member or veteran in North Dakota. These are held in Minot and Grand Forks, ND. This effort is associated with North Dakota's State Suicide Prevention Program, funded by the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Behavioral Health Division (BHD). Learn more about those retreats here.
If you’re curious about our Hold Me Tight® retreats, but aren’t sure what to expect, visit ATAGF’s YouTube channel where your guides to connection talk about the retreat experience!

I provide supervised/mentored hours for therapists seeking EFT certification with couples.
For additional information about EFT Certification requirements, visit the ICEEFT Therapist Certification page.
These hours do not count toward hours for licensure as a psychologist, social worker, counselor, or marriage and family therapist.
I also provide consultation to therapists using the EFT model but not seeking certification.
I provide these services in-person (Grand Forks, ND) and virtually.
My fee is $150 per hour. Click the “Work with Me” button below to request more information.

I am doing a monthly webinar in 2026, and each webinar is focused on gaining clarity in EFT. You can join individual webinars or purchase all 10 at a discounted rate.
